Happy Holidays!!

This is the art my step son and his wife made for me for Christmas this year. They did an awesome job! (The black is cut out of the wood.)

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and have safe plans for the New Year! After a very busy year it is going to be nice to relax here at home with hubby!

We have a lot of plans for a very Artzy new year. We have a band saw set up in my craft area and while I can't do much with it right now because of my hands we are talking about putting out some new art using the saw. Give us a little while to practice and we hope to use it to create shapes to enhance our paintings and make other art with it.

May all of you and your family have a Blessed New Year

Christmas Chunky Book

This year I am hostessing Christmas Chunky books in 2 of my yahoo groups. While I will not tell who is getting this book because it is supposed to be a surprise Christmas gift, I do want to show everyone the book I created. I made 3 books that are the same that will be given to 3 different people. I looked up the history of different elements that are part of Christmas traditions. I printed up the history on very nice mulberry paper and created one envelope on each double page spread to store the story pages in. I then decorated each double page spread in the theme of the history that is contained in that 2 page spread.

I had a lot of fun creating this book and I hope the recipients of the books enjoy them!

3 WEEK CHALLENGE

I would like to invite you to join me and create a new life for yourself in 3 weeks. (one hour/day)

***(NOVEMBER 23rd - DECEMBER 14th)***

Just as repeated positive affirmations can help to eventually make your dreams come true, so can positive artistic expressions.
Sometimes it is difficult to put your hopes and dreams into words. At times like that, try doodling your ideas or drawing pictures or collages of your “dream life.” Look at them daily and you will see your life and circumstances begin to head in a positive direction.
It’s supposed to take around 3 weeks to make or break a habit. Try this experiment for 3 weeks and see what good things happen in your life as a result! (an hour per day to a new you!)

#1) Morning Pages:
Read “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. It is a fabulous book for anyone who wants to be more creative. In it, she discusses her brain child: morning pages. Morning pages consist of 3 stream-of-consciousness pages written as close as you can get to right-after-you-wake-up. This allows you to purge and release whatever is cluttering your brain and get beyond your internal critic, (who is still asleep.) Sometimes you will blurt out upon the page some very important truths and realizations. Try doing this every morning for 3 weeks. I always destroy mine after I’ve written them, often without rereading them. This gives me the chance to say anything I want, no matter how crazy or awful or weak, and only God will know. It also seems to help me to let go of things that are bothering me when I rip up the pages. You can decide what works for you. I have decided to do something different and hold onto mine for this 3 week challenge, then read them at the end. Morning Pages take around 20 minutes per day. “The trick,” as Natalie Goldberg says in “Writing Down the Bones” “is to keep your hand moving.”

#2) Art Journal:
Each day, for 3 weeks, illustrated a dream, wish, or hope that you have, for yourself, the world, or someone you love. You don’t need to spend a lot of time. A simple doodle will be sufficient. Look them all over each day to solidify them in your mind. Allow yourself to dream about what it would be like if these dreams were to come true. They will take around 9 minutes a day or less.

#3) Prayer:
Everyday for 3 weeks, try saying a little prayer for your dreams. You could do it in your morning pages (as I often do,) or driving to work, or before you fall asleep at night. It can be as simple as: “Thank you in advance for all of the blessings you are sending my way.” This will only take 1 minute a day or less.

#4) Julia Cameron also suggests a 30 minute walk each day.

Positive things will begin to happen if you do these 4 things each day for 3 weeks. Be sure and document any positive changes, large and small. When you give attention to your dreams, the universe supports you, and happy surprises begin to occur!

Meet my little MerBaby

Description I am real pleased how this lovely little MerBaby turned out. She has a golden starfish all through her hair. The sea life in this painting glitters and sparkles. The sea shells are actual shells that I picked up from the beach in Florida while I visited there several years ago. The soft blues and greens in this painting along with the sweet little girls face would make a very relaxing accent in your home. This painting has a lot of depth and shine. This painting is created on wood and is about 16 x 15 x 1/2 inches. It is sealed for easy cleaning and durability. It comes signed on the front, signed dated and name of painting on the back. This picture is hung by lovely ribbon, it comes to you ready to hang on your wall

This painting is available at our Etsy shop

Art Journal

I have created my first art journal that will be for sale. This is the same journal that I use. My bubble people have come to life in a journal just like this one. This journal has 75 pages of white cover stock giving you a generous 150 pages to work on. It is wire bound so it will lay flat. This sturdy book has heavy book board covers that make a wonderful working surface when you are on the go. This book is 8 1/2 inches long by 5 1/2 inches tall so it is a perfect size to take along and work on away from home. The covers are painted purple and pink both on the inside and out. I have placed an atc of one of my paintings on the cover in a protective sleeve. I will be happy to replace the ATC if you would like a different one of my paintings to be on the cover or you can change out the ATC for one of yours to make the book more your own. I have added some ribbon and charms to the binding of the book but there is plenty of room to add more if you would like to.

I'm only asking $25 and shipping for this wonderful journal. If at any time you would like to have a journal custom made in your favorite colors and or with watercolor paper just let me know and I will be happy to make a custom journal just for you.

Visit our etsy shop to purchase this art journal

Snow Angels

Do you remember making angels in the snow as a child? I do! This painting brings back many happy memories. This little one's zipper pull is a 3-D wooden snowman. I built up spackle around the little one to give definition to the snow angel in the same way that a real snow angel would be. There is a sprinkling of glitter to give the snow a natural look on a sunny day. This painting is on wood and is 16 x 15 x 1/2 inches. I will be adding a ribbon for easy hanging. This painting is sealed to protect it.

This painting is available at our Etsy shop.

Angel Prayers

I am real pleased how this lovely little praying angel turned out. She has a golden glittery halo. Some of the wood actually shows through on this painting. This painting has a lot of depth that and shine. This painting is created on wood and is about 7 1/2 x 11 3/4 x 1/2 inches. It has a sawtooth hanger on the back.

This painting is available at our Etsy shop
